City of Oceanside Declares November 19 Frontwave Credit Union Day

We know what matters most. When paychecks stopped during the federal government shutdown, we stepped in fast to support more than 31,000 military and civilian Members with nearly 50 million dollars in advanced pay so they could stay on track.

The City of Oceanside recognized that commitment and officially named November 19, 2025 Frontwave Credit Union Day. It is a proud moment for our team and a powerful reminder of what people helping people looks like when it matters most.

This effort supported Marines and sailors who call Oceanside home, along with Department of Defense employees throughout the region. Families faced uncertainty overnight, and our goal was simple. Keep them moving forward without interruption.

The proclamation also acknowledges our long-standing commitment to the communities we serve. Frontwave was founded aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in 1952. We continue to honor that legacy by supporting those who serve our country, along with the families, veterans and neighbors who stand beside them.

City of Oceanside leaders presented the proclamation to Chip Dykes, our Vice President of Military and Community Relations. Mayor Esther Sanchez, Deputy Mayor Eric Joyce and Economic Development Director Michelle Geller took part in the recognition.

We are grateful for this honor. Most of all, we are grateful for the Members who trust us to stand with them through every challenge. When they need support, we show up. When they face financial stress, we help them take the next step with confidence.

Proclamation in Honor of Frontwave Credit Union

Whereas, during the 2025 federal government shutdown, Frontwave Credit Union acted swiftly and decisively to ensure financial stability for its Members serving our nation by advancing pay to all eligible active-duty military Members — including the Marines and sailors who call Oceanside and the surrounding communities home — whose government paychecks were delayed due to the shutdown; and

Whereas, Frontwave’s payroll advance effort totaled nearly $50 million, providing immediate relief to more than 31,000 military Members, allowing them and their families to meet essential financial needs without interruption; and

Whereas, Frontwave also extended vital support to civilian Department of Defense and federal employee Members affected by the shutdown through additional relief measures and financial assistance, underscoring its deep commitment to the entire defense community; and

Whereas, this extraordinary act of leadership and compassion reflects Frontwave’s proud legacy as a financial institution founded in 1952 aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, and headquartered in Oceanside, where it continues to serve the military and local community with dedication, integrity, and care; and

Whereas, Frontwave continues to honor its mission to “fight for our Members’ financial success,” empowering Marines, veterans, and local families through financial education, community partnerships, and a 360-degree approach to giving; and

Whereas, the City of Oceanside recognizes Frontwave Credit Union as a trusted community partner whose leadership and compassion embody the values of service, resilience, and unity that define our city.

Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, Mayor Esther C. Sanchez, on behalf of the City of Oceanside, do hereby proclaim November 19, 2025 as

Frontwave Credit Union Day

in the City of Oceanside, in honor of and much gratitude for their heroic and compassionate efforts in providing critical financial relief to our military and civilian members and families, during the longest government shutdown in our country’s history. Many thanks for going above and beyond!
