Pacific Marine Credit Union Spreads Joy with Comfort Bags at Rady Children's Hospital
January 17, 2018
Oceanside, CA — Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU), a supporter of Rady Children’s Hospital, recently collected donations from their employees to make comfort bags. Comfort bags are comprised of toys, games and hygiene items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste for families that might not have planned to spend their evening at Rady Children’s Hospital.
Most of the bags will be used at Chadwick Center for Children & Families in support of their Trauma Counseling Program. These bags will provide hope and healing to many families at Rady Children’s, and the toys and games will be a welcome distraction to patients. Each bag was carefully designed to offer a little bit of relief during a really challenging, worrisome and fearful time for the sick kids and their families at Rady Children’s Hospital, guiding each family towards hope and healing.
Since 2000, Pacific Marine Credit Union has been a supporter of Rady Children’s Hospital through Credit Unions for Kids, raising nearly $275,000 for the Hospital since the partnership began. Pacifc Marine Credit Union’s employees set out with a goal of 40 comfort bags, and with the support of its 12 branches throughout San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino, the credit union far exceeded the goal and put together 150 comfort bags.
Ginger Bial LCSW, Rady Children’s Hospital’s Chadwick Center Project Manager, said, “As a result of PMCU’s donation, we are able to continue to make progress toward our goal of strengthening and supporting families along their path to wellness. PMCU’s generosity has touched the lives of many, many families.”
